Defining what I don't do

February 3, 2026 · 2 min read

The more time I spend on the internet, the more I realise how terrible it makes me feel!

Constant AI slop, video games, social media trends all create a feeling of the destruction of my values and true self.

I think it's important to understand the problem but to also define what you do, and more importantly, don't do.

What I Don't Do

  1. I will never pay for a TV license (innit).
  2. I play very little video games - when I do, it's when I have the time or am willing to destroy my brain.
  3. I don't watch pornography - after being addicted for much of my teen years, returning down the water slide would be a complete contradiction on what I work for.
  4. I use very little social media.
  5. I aim to only use free and open-source software.
  6. I only buy physical media; booksm movies, TV shows, CDs, records, video games.
  7. I aim to spend as little time online as possible as a whole.

How To Implement Yourself

Like I said, it's important to understand but also know what you do and don't do in a day. If you have more free time than the average person, then maybe you find this more difficult. Equally, you may find it easier to implement!

Create a list, like the one above, and define what you don't do. Then, live it - simple as that.
